Google has officially launched the Pixel Watch 3, bringing notable updates to its smartwatch lineup. While the design may look familiar, with a choice of two sizes—41mm and 45mm—the Pixel Watch 3 introduces several key enhancements that set it apart from its predecessor.
New Features and Specifications
The Pixel Watch 3 retains the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 SoC and a comprehensive suite of sensors, including a heart rate monitor, ECG readings, SpO2 measurement, skin thermometer, and GPS. However, the major addition is the inclusion of a UWB (Ultra-Wideband) chip, making it the first Android smartwatch to support this technology. UWB allows for improved device interactions, such as unlocking your phone or car, and locating your watch with Google's Find My Device.
The watch’s display has seen an upgrade, with both the 41mm and 45mm versions now boasting screens that reach up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, a significant increase from the Pixel Watch 2’s 1,000 nits. Additionally, the bezels have been reduced by a full millimeter for a more streamlined look. The 41mm variant features a 1.2-inch screen, while the 45mm version offers a larger 1.4-inch display.
Battery life remains consistent with the previous model, with the 41mm having a 310 mAh battery and the 45mm sporting a 420 mAh battery. Both versions promise up to 24 hours of use with the always-on display enabled. Charging has improved, with a 20% increase in speed compared to the previous generation.

Connectivity and Audio Features
The Pixel Watch 3 now supports Bluetooth LE Audio, a low-energy audio protocol that enables longer battery life while streaming music or podcasts. This makes it the first Android smartwatch to offer this feature. Additionally, the watch integrates well with other Pixel devices and accessories, enhancing overall user experience.

Health and Fitness Tracking
New health-tracking features include a readiness score that assesses recovery levels and indicates if you’re ready for your next workout or need more rest. The watch also offers improved running tracking and allows for camera control on Pixel phones, as well as direct access to Nest Cam or Nest Doorbell.
