Which Pixel 9 series device are you most interested in?
We’re gearing up for an earlier-than-usual Made by Google event on August 13 with not just one or two, but four Pixel 9 series devices. This year, Google is expanding its lineup to include the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, alongside two new smartwatches.
In previous years, choosing a Pixel was a straightforward decision between a standard model and a larger "Pro" version. Now, with this expanded lineup, Google aims to cater to a wider range of preferences under a unified naming convention.
The naming might seem unconventional, but it could streamline the lineup and make it easier for consumers to identify their preferred device. Whether this approach resonates with potential buyers and long-time Pixel fans remains to be seen.
Expected hardware improvements include features like an Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, an upgraded Tensor G4 processor, and a new boxier design. This design shift marks one of the most significant changes in the Pixel series since its inception.
Adopting a more boxy, iPhone-like design could potentially attract a different audience or alienate those who prefer Google's signature friendly aesthetic. Over the past 4-5 years, Google has cultivated a distinctive design language with its Pixel lineup and associated Android builds.
