Pixel 9 Pro Display Specs Reportedly Include 2,050 Nits Brightness, 6.34-Inch Screen

Following the leak of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold display specs, another report has emerged detailing the display specifications for the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. Google's upcoming Pixel 9 series is set to bring significant upgrades, particularly in terms of brightness and display size.

Actua Displays Make a Return with Upgrades

The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro introduced "Actua" displays, Google's branding for its brighter displays, which marked a significant improvement over previous models. However, the competition quickly surpassed these displays, paving the way for an upgrade in the Pixel 9 series.

Pixel 9: Bigger and Brighter

According to Android Authority, the base model Pixel 9 will feature a 6.24-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2424. This 120Hz panel will be slightly larger than the Pixel 8's display and will offer a peak brightness of 1,800 nits during HDR, up from 1,400 nits on the Pixel 8.

Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL: Top-Tier Brightness

The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will receive even more substantial upgrades. Both devices are reported to achieve 2,050 nits of peak HDR brightness, a significant increase from the 1,600 nits on the Pixel 8 Pro.

  • Pixel 9 Pro: The display will measure 6.34 inches with a resolution of 1280 x 2856. This size increase is partly due to reduced bezels.
  • Pixel 9 Pro XL: The display will be 6.73 inches with a resolution of 1344 x 2992, slightly larger than the Pixel 8 Pro's 6.71-inch panel.

Competing with the Best

Despite the improvements, the Pixel 9 series displays will take second place to the Galaxy S24 series (2,600 nits) and the iPhone 15 Pro (2,500 nits). However, the brightness levels of the Pixel 9 series in HDR are still impressive, especially considering that Samsung and Apple have shown lower figures in similar conditions.

Launch Date and Expectations

Google is set to launch the Pixel 9 series on August 13, 2024. With these new display specifications, the Pixel 9 series is expected to offer a compelling upgrade for users, combining higher brightness with larger and more refined screens.
